What the specialist may ask about
NHS guidance says the specialist may ask about the history of symptoms, including whether they began in childhood, and their effect on school, work or education, family and friendships, and your medical and mental-health history.
Someone who knows you may be involved
The specialist may want information from someone who knows you well. Ask the service beforehand what it wants and what happens if that information is difficult to obtain.
After the assessment
If you are diagnosed, the specialist should discuss what the diagnosis means and what help or support may be available. Medication, when used, must be started and monitored by an ADHD specialist.
