Examples worth asking about
- Written information as well as spoken instructions.
- A quieter place to wait.
- A longer appointment where needed.
- A supporter or communication aid.
- Clear information about what will happen and who you will meet.
- Communication in a more accessible format.
Ask before the appointment
Contact the service as early as you can. Explain the barrier and the adjustment that would help. You do not need to copy a legal phrase; a concrete request is often easier to act on.
Make a reusable note
Keep a short list of the adjustments that work for you so you do not have to recreate it for every appointment.
Prepare without trying to be perfect
Write down the things you most want remembered. You can read from your notes, show them to the clinician, or use the free appointment-prep tool to put them in order.
